A stellar weekend for NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) athletes with Madison de Rozario claiming her seventh Oz Day 10km title as winter athletes win three medals in the northern hemisphere.

 

Madi Claims Seventh Oz Day 10km

Paralympic gold medallist and NSWIS scholarship holder Madison de Rozario won her seventh consecutive Oz Day 10km event at The Rocks in Sydney on 26th January. In the scorching Sydney sun, NSWIS compatriot Christie Dawes finished less than 60 seconds behind her in second place.

 

Two Silver and a Bronze From Winter Athletes

Olympic bronze medallist Tess Coady claimed her first X-Games hardware with silver in the ladies’ snowboard slopestyle while teenage ace Valentino Guseli finished third in the snowboard halfpipe. Meanwhile Jakara Anthony claimed another world cup medal in Canada.

Sailing Towards Big Goals

Sydney teenager Evie Saunders is not daunted by her enormous year ahead. Not only will the 17-year-old complete her Higher School Certificate, but she will travel around the world to compete in qualification events in her quest to wear the green and gold at the Olympics in sailing.

 

Kookaburras Fourth at World Cup

A seven minute purple patch from the Netherlands consigned the Kookaburras, including NSWIS athletes Lachlan Sharp, Tom Craig, Matthew Dawson, Blake Govers, Flynn Ogilvie and Tim Brand, to a fourth place finish at the 2023 FIH World Cup after the Europeans triumphed 3-1 in the bronze medal match in India.
