The winter sports season kicked off over the weekend with several NSWIS athletes in action around the world.

With the first snowboard cross World Cup event postponed until mid-December, riders Alex Pullin, Belle Brockhoff, Cam Bolton and Jarryd Hughes were all in action at the Austrian National Championships.

Pullin and Brockhoff highlighted the results from the championships, placing second and third in their respective events, with Bolton fifth and Hughes 13th.

Four of the riders then competed in the next day’s Europa Cup event, with Brockhoff securing victory and Pullin finishing third, and Bolton finishing 17th.

Elsewhere, ski cross athletes Sami Kennedy-Sim and Anton Grimus began their campaign with solid results at the first ski cross World Cup event of the season in Canada.

Kennedy-Sim finished 16th overall to open her 2014/15 account, while Grimus finished 25th in the men’s event.

The next ski cross World Cup takes place in Innichen, Italy on December 20.
