The 2015 FINA Aquatic World Championships continued over the weekend with a number of solid performances from NSWIS athletes.

The diving competition concluded with Esther Qin and Melissa Wu notching three top five finishes between them but finishing just short of a medal.

Qin finished fourth in the women’s 3m springboard and fifth in the women’s 1m springboard to add to the bronze she won earlier in the competition, while Wu secured a fifth place finish in the women’s 10m platform alongside an eighth place in the women’s 10m synchronised platform.

The Australian men’s and women’s water polo teams are in contention for medals with both sides facing quarter-final matches in the coming days.

The women’s team which features six NSWIS athletes will play China for a chance at the semi-finals, while the men’s team that includes seven NSWIS athletes will face Greece in a quarter-final showdown.

The swimming events kicked off over the weekend with Matthew Abood the first NSWIS athlete in the water. Abood was part of the Australian men’s 4x100m freestyle relay team that unfortunately missed out on the final.
