The 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships concluded in Belarus overnight with several strong performances from NSWIS athletes.

Ashlee Ankudinoff was the sole medal winner of the four NSWIS athletes competing as she took home silver in the women’s team pursuit. Ankudinoff was part of the team that secured a final berth before the Australians went on to take second behind Great Britain.

London Olympian Kaarle McCulloch continued her strong world championship record with three top 10 finishes in four events. McCulloch finished fourth in the women’s team sprint with compatriot Stephanie Morton, just .005 seconds from bronze, before finishing sixth in the women’s 500m time trial and seventh in the women’s sprint. McCulloch added an 11th place finish in the women’s keirin to complete her campaign.

World championship debutants Mitchell Bullen and Andrew Taylor also competed strongly in Minsk.

Bullen finished fourth as part of the Australian men’s team sprint before finishing ninth in the men’s sprint, while Taylor narrowly missed out on men’s keirin bronze by finishing fourth. Taylor also finished 15th in the men’s sprint.
