NSWIS moguls skiers Matt Graham and Britt Cox have enjoyed great success ahead of the world championships after winning medals at the most recent World Cup event in the USA.

Graham became just the fourth Australian male to win a World Cup medal when he took silver in the men’s freestyle event, finishing behind Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury to take his maiden medal.

The 20 year old performed a cork 1080 jump for the first time in World Cup competition, with the risk paying off as Graham motored to silver.

Graham’s fellow NSWIS athletes Cox and Nicole Parks finished 11th and 18th respectively in the women’s event, with youngster Madi Himbury placing 44th. James Matheson finished 48th in the men’s event.

Just 24 hours later, Cox won bronze in the women’s dual moguls event. Cox finished behind Canadian Justine Dufour-Lapointe and American KC Oakley to win her third career World Cup bronze medal.

Himbury improved significantly on her results from the day before to finish eighth in the dual moguls event, with Parks 23rd, Jakara Anthony 38th and Roanna Humphries 39th. The men’s dual moguls event saw Graham finish in sixth position.

Elsewhere, the ski cross World Cup continued in Val Thorens, France, with Sami Kennedy-Sim and Anton Grimus both competing. Grimus finished ninth in the men’s event and Kennedy-Sim finished 20th in the women’s event.
