A host of NSWIS athletes are looking to the IAAF World U20 Championships following the Australian Junior Athletics Championships over the weekend.

Jessica Thornton, Amy Harding-Delooze, Alysha Burnett and Beth Croft each posted qualification results during the championships ahead of the junior world championships team being annouced within the week.

Thornton posted a time of 53.08 to win the women’s 400m, Harding-Delooze comfortably won the women’s 1500m in 4:23.69; Burnett cleared 1.83m to set a new personal best and win high jump gold and Croft secured victory in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:22.61.

Elsewhere, the Perth Track Classic saw a further two NSWIS athletes stake their claim for a spot at the World U20 Championships.

Sam Geddes claimed the U20 women’s 100m in a time of 11.76 while Alex Hulley claimed silver and a qualiyfing distance of 60.03m in the women’s hammer throw.
