New South Wales scholarship holders Se-bom Lee (pictured above) and Matt Galea have been named in the Australia A team that will compete at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Irvine, California USA from 5-8th August, 2025.

The pair are members of the SOPAC swimming squad coached by the NSWIS Swimming program’s Head Coach, Adam Kable.

The Australia A team, made up of experienced Australian representatives and athletes in contention to challenge for a position at next year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, will be led by National Youth Coach Simon Cusack.

Cusack, a four-time Olympic coach who has spent 20 years coaching the likes of swimming legends Cate and Bronte Campbell and Australia’s most decorated Paralympic champion Ellie Cole – all NSWIS scholarship athletes – said the meet was also an important hit out ahead of the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships.

The 2026 Pan Pacs will feature swimmers from Australia, the United States, Canada and Japan and will also be held in Irvine ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Cusack said: “Providing international racing opportunities for this group of athletes is a key to ensure continued upward pressure for places in the senior Dolphins team… think of it like swimmers providing upward pressure on the diamonds.”

“It’s also an opportunity to analyse the challenges we may face ahead of 2026 regarding travel, time zones – and in the long time, learnings to take into LA 2028.

“For the likes of Olympian Se-Bom Lee, Jamie Jack and Bailey Lello, this is also an opportunity to be reinvigorated and remotivated towards 2028.”

Eight of the Australia A team that toured the United States in 2023 were named last week in the Dolphins team to compete at the World Championships in Singapore in July.

“Our job in pathways is to create an oversupply of swimmers. Complacency detracts from real talent reaching their potential and this tour is an important step in unleashing potential,” Cusack said.

Congratulations to the following team members on their selection to the Australia A team to compete at the TYR Pro Swim Series.
