Lauren Parker OAM, a superhero who doesn’t wear a cape, won the T100 Tour event at the World Triathlon Championships in Wollongong over the weekend.

It was the 36-year-old’s fifth world paratriathlon championship title, while fellow Aussie Ashleigh Gentle finished second.

Parker, the reigning Australian Paralympian of the year after her supreme effort to win gold in paratriathlon and paracycling at last year’s Paris Games, said her latest triumph, said it was a podium she’ll long remember.

“It’s so special to get my fifth world title here in my home country and with my family and friends and team around me,” Parker said.

“ I always put pressure on myself, I guess. I feel like I thrive with pressure, like it helps me out there on course when I’ve got a bit of pressure and it’s all put on by me.”

Parker also took home a silver medal after Australia finished second in the mixed para triathlon team relay alongside eremy Peacock, Maggie Sandles (with guide Lauren Sprague) and Jack Howell finished second in the mixed para triathlon relay.
