Britt Cox has been named the Snowsport Athlete of the Year, jointly with Scotty James, at this year’s Ski & Snowboard Australia Awards held in Melbourne.

The 22 year old Mogul Skiing athlete has had a sensational season, winning gold at the recent Freestyle World Ski Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain, and becoming the first Australian female to win a Mogul Skiing World Cup title.

Also celebrating success at the awards is fellow NSWIS Winter Sports athlete Adam Lambert, who took out the Junior Snowsport Athlete of the Year for his stellar season in the Snowboard Cross.

Lambert took out the men’s overall Europa Cup title late last month, winning three of the first five Europa Cup events to get the chance to race against the best in the world in the main World Cup events. One of the 19 year old’s most impressive results of the year was 6th place in Sierra Nevada earlier this month.

Another NSWIS athlete who received acknowledgement was Tess Coady, who won the Rising Star Award. Tess Coady has had a stellar year, winning double junior World Championship gold in the Czech Republic earlier this month, and was deservedly also nominated for both the Snowsport Athlete of the Year and the Junior Snowsport Athlete of the Year.

A total of 11 athletes from NSWIS were nominated at the awards, indication of the strength of the Winter Sports program in New South Wales.
